Texas State University Spring 2012 Come meet a genius: 

MacAurthur Fellow Dr. Kevin Guskiewicz

Texas State University Department of Health and Human Performance is proud to announce that the Spring 2012 Brennan and Smith Lecture will be presented by Dr. Kevin Guskiewicz Thursday, April 5, at 7:30 PM in Evans Auditorium. Dr. Guskiewicz will present “The Science and Technology of Sport Concussion: Translating Clinical Research into Concussion Prevention and Management.” CEU’s are available from NATA and a reception will follow.

Dr. Guskiewicz is the Kenan Distinguished Professor of Athletic Training and Chair of the Department of Exercise and Sport Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Guskiewicz research has made significant contributions to the understanding, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of sports-related concussions. He is a Fellow of the National Academy of Kinesiology and most recently was named one of the 2011 MacArthur Foundation Fellows. The MacArthur Fellow or genius award recognizes extraordinary excellence and future potential in research and creative activity with an unrestricted award of a half a million dollars paid over five years.
